ourselves to improving our staffs, our players, our programs and institutions, and to rededicating ourselves to the principles and values of our GAME.

This year's convention offers more opportunities than ever for all of us to leave better than we came. As always, some of our best coaches will elaborate on the X's and 0's that led to their success.

Also featured will be professional development seminars on family, finance, sportsmanship, public relations public relations, activities and policies used to create public interest in a person, idea, product, institution, or business establishment. By its nature, public relations is devoted to serving particular interests by presenting them to the public in the most  and crisis management; a visit with coaches Don Coryell Don Coryell (born October 17, 1924) is a former American football coach, who coached in the NFL first with the St. Louis Cardinals from 1973-1977 and then the San Diego Chargers from 1978-1986.  old friendships and to meet new friends who share our love of the GAME. For me the convention has meant exposure to some of the great minds, spirits and personalities that have left a mark on this game and profession that I love. It has meant time spent with opposing coaches in a sharing atmosphere that allows for bonding, fellowship and respect.

It is also a time to reflect on the values and integrity of the game and our profession, and to recall that we each are responsible for its care and preservation. If we do not protect and defend our game and profession, then who will?

In closing I would like to thank each one of you, the members of the AFCA, for your support and for the privilege of serving as your president this year. They will continue to provide the leadership necessary to keep our association as the flagship of coaches' organizations.

I look forward to seeing you all in Anaheim.

Best wishes.
