Preservationists focus on Modern Movement.DOCOMOMO DOCOMOMO Documentation and Conservation - Modern Movement (New York, NY urban design organization) US, the United States chapter of the international organization dedicated to the Documentation and Conservation of buildings, sites and neighborhoods of the Modern Movement, will host the VIIIth International DOCOMOMO conference "Import/Export: Postwar modernism in an Expanding World, 1945-1975," from September 26 to October 2 in New York City New York City: see New York, city. New York City City (pop., 2000: 8,008,278), southeastern New York, at the mouth of the Hudson River. The largest city in the U.S. . This is the first DOCOMOMO conference devoted entirely to the postwar period. It is also first to consider the impact of preservation on modernism and conversely, the impact of modernism on preservation. Speakers from 25 different countries will be engaged in presentations, panels and teaching technology seminars. The conference week will be divided into three distinct components. At Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation 68 historians, architects, planners and preservation professionals from around the world will present their papers. The presenters were selected from 288 abstracts submitted in response to a Call for Papers. Presentation themes are Internationalization The support for monetary values, time and date for countries around the world.
