Preservation Society of Newport, Rhode Island Selects Fireman's Fund Insurance Company to Insure Historic Newport Mansions.

NEWPORT, R.I. -- The Preservation Society of Newport County, Rhode Island today announced that it has chosen Fireman's Fund Insurance Company to provide insurance coverage and risk management services to its 11 historic properties known as the Newport Mansions.

"We selected Fireman's Fund(R) because, in addition to the very comprehensive coverage they provide, they offer professional risk management advice and other services that will help protect Newport's beloved historic homes," said Trudy Coxe, chief executive officer and executive director of the Preservation Society. "With their years of experience protecting the country's most exquisite homes, Fireman's Fund will be an important partner in preserving and maintaining the historic and cultural significance of these homes."

"The size, grandeur, unique construction and age of the mansions all present unique risks that make the Newport Mansions very complex properties to insure," said Chris Heidrick, vice president of personal insurance at Fireman's Fund. "The Preservation Society was looking for an insurer who had full appreciation of the historic and sentimental value of its homes. Our specific focus on insuring million-dollar-plus homes gives us the experience needed to properly protect these one-of-a-kind properties."

The Fireman's Fund underwriters used a flexible version of the company's homeowner's insurance product to extend coverage, including windstorm and flood protection, to all 11 mansions and their landscaping.
