Premier Pools & Spas Honored as "Builder of the Year" at Annual Industry Expo.

A suburb of Sacramento, it experienced rapid growth in the late 20th cent. , Calif. -- Premier Pools & Spas, the nation's seventh largest pool-building firm, was honored as "Builder of the Year" at the International Pool & Spa Expo, in Las Vegas Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. It is the largest city in Nevada and the center of one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the United States. .
Premier Pools & Spas, based in Rancho Cordova, Calif., is only the second builder in the nation selected to receive this award.
"This award singles out and honors those who represent the industry's best practices," said Erika Taylor, editor of Pool & Spa News, when announcing the award. She continued, "As a company, they are smart, aggressive and innovative while possessing a clear vision of the market. It gave me great pleasure to present our 2006 Pool Builder of the Year award to such a deserving entity."
The award honoring Premier was accepted by Paul Porter Paul Porter is an American public address announcer best known for his work for the Orlando Magic of the National Basketball Association.
Porter has served as the arena voice for the Magic since the teams inception in the late 1980s. , who co-founded Premier Pools with Keith Harbeck, in 1988.
When the closely-guarded announcement was made, Mr. Porter was quick to credit the Premier team of employees who are directly responsible for the company's considerable growth and success.
"The fact that the vast majority of new clients are referred to us by satisfied clients speaks volumes about our employees," Porter said when accepting the award. He continued, "Our employees are dedicated to providing a very satisfying and quality experience to homeowners as we create a unique backyard experience and help them carry-out their dreams."
The "Builder of the Year" is selected by the editorial staff at Pool & Spa News, a publication that has been covering the industry for more than 40 years. While they annually rank the country's Top 50 builders by revenue, the publication's editorial staff created this editors choice award one year ago to take into account a broader spectrum of standards.

3. Business Editor Shabnam Mogharabi, the candidates need to excel in five categories. The editorial staff examines the company's innovativeness, integrity, and involvement in furthering the industry. In addition, they must exhibit a growth-oriented attitude and last, but not least, produce a quality product.
Ms. Mogharabi said that Premier was the front-runner in 2006. "Staying nimble in a slowing market underscores their business acumen." She continued, "This award is based on sound management and values that represent the industry. Recipients of this award are typically in the top tier of the nation's pool and backyard industry."
This award caps an eventful and most successful year for Premier. Early in 2006, Premier merged with Litehouse Pools & Spas, a specialty backyard retail chain with stores in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Arizona and California.
