Premier Inc. Experts to Lead Discussions on Healthcare Pay for Performance at National Events in February.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Leaders from the Premier Inc. healthcare alliance will speak at conferences around the country in February, sharing exclusive insights regarding pay-for-performance and patient safety based on Premier's Hospital Quality Incentive Demonstration (HQID) pay-for-performance demonstration project with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Premier President and CEO Richard A. Norling will be a keynote speaker at the National Health Policy Conference on Wednesday, February 14 in Los Angeles. Norling will also be a featured speaker at the North Carolina Hospital Association winter meeting on Wednesday, February 21 in Cary, NC, and at the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence conference on Thursday, February 22 in Nashville, TN.

Premier Chief Operating Officer Susan D. DeVore will speak on Saturday, February 17 in Louisville, KY, at the annual meeting of the trustees of the hospitals managed by Louisville-based Alliant Management Services. DeVore will discuss the HQID project, as well as Premier's group purchasing program.

Stephanie Alexander, senior vice president for Premier Healthcare Informatics, will be a featured speaker at the National Health Policy Conference on Monday, February 12, in Washington and at the 2007 Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition on Monday, February 26, in New Orleans.

Alexander will also be featured on the following Premier teleconferences:

* HQID Year II Results, featuring Valley Baptist Health System in TX; Thursday, February 8.

* Premier Performance Suite[TM] Launch Webcast, featuring Alamance Regional Medical Center in NC; Wednesday, February 21.

Premier Regional Vice President Frank Johnson will speak at the National Pay for Performance Summit, Thursday, February 15, Los Angeles.

According to Year II results released in January, more than 260 hospitals participating in the HQID project have raised overall quality by 11.8 percent in two years, based on their delivery of 30 nationally standardized and widely accepted care measures to patients in five clinical areas. Improvements in quality of care saved 1,284 acute myocardial infarction (heart attack) patients, and patients received approximately 150,000 additional recommended evidence-based clinical quality measures, such as smoking cessation, discharge instructions and pneumococcal vaccination.
