They both like reading and SF movies, and are exasperated by most of humanity. Becca decides they need to seek out more of their kind, so they start the Queen Geek Social Club. No longer invisible on campus, Shelby finds herself involved in crazy schemes to promote the Geek cause. As the girls plan National Invisible Boy Day, a day dedicated to ignoring boys, Shelby is annoyed to find herself growing increasingly intrigued with Fletcher, an intelligent, persistent, and popular sophomore. Preble has successfully created a thoroughly enjoyable story. The vibrant and out-of-the-ordinary characters keep the plot moving with their endless scheming and plotting for the Geek revolution. Though the Social Club is focused on tackling social issues and activism, Becca and Shelby also honestly address popularity, parental relationships, romance, and friendship.
