NSPF Certified Pool Operators Certification

Thursday, June 5 (8:00am - 5:00pm) and Friday, June 6 (8:00am - 5:00pm) NEHA is Pleased to offer the National Swimming Pool Foundation's (NSPF) Certified Pool Operators (GPO) Certification Course. Many states and hundreds of local communities require their public and commercial pool operators to become CPO's. This course will be taught by NEHA's own Jim Dingman, GPO Course Instructor. The CPO Course is 16 hours and will conclude with a certification examination. Cost includes exam and is $169 for members and $199 for nonmembers if you sign up by May 23, 2003. (Please note: There is a minimum attendance required for this course, if that minimum is not reached, NEHA reserves the right to cancel it.)

Registered Environmental Health Specialist/Registered Sanitarian (REHS/RS) Review Course

Friday, June 6 (8:00am - 5:00pm.) and Saturday, June 7 (8:00am - 12:00pm) This one-and-a-half day refresher course is designed to help you prepare for the REHS/RS exam. The course will cover the exam content. You will he able to question instructors who are familiar with the exam and who have years of expertise in the Eli field. Cost is $329 for members and $429 for non-members. Cost includes the REHS/RS Study Guide (Second Edition) ca $179 value,) and the REHS/RS exam and application fees (a $225 value,). Limit 50 people.

Friday, June 6 (8:00am - 5:00pm,) This one-day refresher course is designed to help you prepare for the CFSP exam. The course will cover the exam content. You will be able to question instructors who are familiar with the exam and who have years of expertise in the food safety and protection field. Cost is $329 for members and $429 for non-members. Cost includes the CFSP Study Guide Package which includes the NEHA CFSP Study Guide, the 1999 Food Code, Essentials of Food Safety and Sanitation (a $199 value, and the CFSP exam and application fees (a $225 value,). Limit 50 people.

NEHA Credential Exams

Saturday, June 7 (CFSP, RET, CEHT, RHSS and RHSP: 8:00am - 12:00pm; REHS/RS: 1:00pm - 600pm,) You have the opportunity to take any of NEHA's credential exams at the NEHA AEC and Exhibition. For credential applications and qualification information, please visit the NEJIA Web site at www.neba.org, click on "Credentials" and then the appropriate credential.

Important Note: A separate credential application for the NEHA credentials is required and due to NEHA by May 5,2003. Only qualified applicants will be able to sit for an ex:un. NEHA cannot guarantee that applicants applying after the May 5, 2003 deadline will be able to sit for an exam. All applications received after May 5, 2003 deadline will be assessed a non-returnable $25 talc fee. Application of HACCP Principles in Retail Workshop

Friday, June 6 (9:00am - 5:00pm) and Saturday, June 7 (9:00am - 5:00pm) This two-day course is designed to allow participants to explore the various ways HACCP concepts can be applied in retail food programs. Topics will include a description of HACCP applications in routine inspection work, HACCP exercises to prepare participants to use HACCP principles as part of their inspection work, and examples from various jurisdictions. This course is designed to address the needs of state and local regulatory food safety professionals. Cost is $149 for members and $179 for non-members if you sign up by May 23, 2003. Limit 50 people.

The Public Health Agency Role in Incident Command Systems (ICS) Workshop

Saturday, June 7 (9:00 am - 4:00pm) NEHA is collaborating with the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) to offer this new public health preparedness and response one-day workshop. The course is offered by NACCHO, CDC, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency and will include instructors from each. The ICS Workshop provides an important framework for how all agencies at the local, state and federal levels can work together. Participants will discuss the principles of the ICS and the role of the local and state agencies within ICS and will engage in a "table-top" exercise to illustrate key concepts discussed during the session. No fee is required to attend this training! However, registration through NACCHO is required. Hands-On Portable Instrumentation Workshop-Tools and Techniques for the Comprehensive Food Service Inspection

Saturday, June 7 (9:00am - 4:00pm) This one-day workshop is intended to provide participants with new approaches, techniques and tools in performing food service evaluations and audits. The course emphasizes the appropriate use of portable field instruments, as well as their limitations and capabilities. You will use various field instruments under "actual use" conditions and apply the practical sampling skills learned through lecture and large group discussion. At the conclusion of the workshop you will be able to: utilize new sampling strategies, unique inspection techniques, and the latest in portable field instruments; choose the right instrument for the task and understand its application, capabilities amid limitations, as well as interpret and record results; perform field calibration/validation of the instruments and design instrument maintenance logs; and understand the key principles and criteria to select the best and most versatile instruments on a limited budget. Cost is $99 for members and $119 f or non-members if you sign up by May 23, 2003. Limit 50 people.
