A simple prayer for Pentecost Pentecost (pĕn`təkôst) [Gr.,=fiftieth], important Jewish and Christian feast. The Jewish feast of Pentecost, in Hebrew Shavuot, the Feast of Weeks, one of the three pilgrimage festivals, arose as the celebration of the closing of the , May 15:

"Loving and gracious gra·cious  
adj.
1. Characterized by kindness and warm courtesy.

2. Characterized by tact and propriety: responded to the insult with gracious humor.

3.
 God, today the fire of your Holy Spirit enkindles the face of the Earth. May the warmth of Christ's presence among us give us the strength to speak your wisdom and the power to accomplish your will. We ask this through Christ Christ: see Jesus.
