Praxair builds world's largest advanced air separation plants to supply Spain steel mills.DANBURY, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 6, 1996--Praxair, Inc. The 133 tons-per-day (120 metric tons) facilities supply two Ucin Group steel-producing mini mills in Spain, and will utilize Praxair's vacuum pressure swing adsorption Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) is a technology used to separate some gas species from a mixture of gases under pressure according to the species' molecular characteristics and affinity for an adsorbent material. Large-volume oxygen users previously had to choose between higher cost alternatives such as two smaller VPSA systems or a cryogenic facility. Praxair VPSA and membrane supply system contracts represent 8,100 tons of contracted oxygen and nitrogen capacity for more than 700 customers worldwide. The company plans to bring at least three more 120-ton facilities on-stream by the end of 1996.
