Pratt & Whitney Canada's PT6B-67A Engine Selected for China's Z-8F Helicopter Upgrade Program.

China Aviation Industry Corporation II China Aviation Industry Corporation II (AVIC II) is a Chinese consortium of aircraft manufacturers. The consortium was created on July, 01, 1999 by splitting the state-own consortium China Aviation Industry Corporation (AVIC) into AVIC I and AVIC II.  (AVIC II AVIC II China Aviation Industry Corp II ) and Pratt & Whitney Canada Corp. (P&WC) confirmed today that AVIC II has selected the PT6B-67A for its Z-8F helicopter upgrade program.

The Z-8F is a more powerful version of the existing Z-8 helicopter manufactured at Changhe Aircraft Industries. The 13-ton class helicopter is expected to contribute significant logistics support to the expansion and development of the western region of China, where high mountains and desert terrain require the use of high performance transport helicopters. In addition to search and rescue and general utility missions, the Z-8F is expected to attract international sales due to its large payload capability, efficient operating characteristics and lower operating costs operating costs nplgastos mpl operacionales .

AVIC II has chosen the PT6B-67A to enable higher payloads and improved "hot and high" performance, in addition to more efficient operating costs. The PT6B-67A engine comprises a PT6C-67 series engine core with a reduction gearbox.
