) by the U.S. Government Federal Aviation Administration Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), component of the U.S. Department of Transportation that sets standards for the air-worthiness of all civilian aircraft, inspects and licenses them, and regulates civilian and military air traffic through its air traffic control  (FAA).

This sole source contract represents a new award that follows on from the original CDLS contract awarded to Exide Electronics Group Inc. (now operating as Powerware Corporation) on July 9, 1996. The one-year contract awarded by the FAA, with four one-year extendable options, is estimated at a potential cumulative value of $16 million.
