FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 19, 1997--Everex Systems, Inc., designer and manufacturer of servers, workstations, notebooks and desktops, has announced the introduction of the StepNote(TM) 5 notebook computer.

Combining power, efficiency and affordability, the StepNote 5 answers the demand for a state-of-the-art notebook utilizing the latest technology on the market -- incorporating into one portable computer system: a heatpipe cooled Intel 150 MHz Pentium(R) processor and; 16MB EDO RAM (expandable to 48MB). A 12.1" active matrix screen provides discerning eyes a pristine display yielding 800 x 600 resolution in over 65,000 colors. 12.1 dual scan screen is also available.

Modular design provides travelers the flexibility to install two batteries for more than five hours of productive time. By supporting simultaneous floppy bay and CD operation, dual cross-chemistry battery options, and full-blown multimedia, the StepNote 5 becomes the portable partner decision makers have been seeking.

In addition to Windows(R) 95, the StepNote 5 notebook system comes pre-installed with a Microsoft software bundle, including: -0- -- MS Encarta(R) Encyclopedia -- MS Works -- MS Money -- MS Internet Explorer 3.0 Web Browser -- MS Entertainment Pack -- MS Scenes Collection and CD Sampler -- LapLink for Windows 95 -0-

StepNote 5 notebook computer systems include a two-year limited warranty and first year 48-hour hot swap. Technical support is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
