Snowbound Software Corporation today announced that powerful text searching capabilities for IBM's ImagePlus systems are now included in the company's RasterMaster(TM) 12.0 imaging SDK for the Windows(R) platform.

Snowbound will be demonstrating RasterMaster, as well as the company's document retrieval systems, image viewers and batch conversion programs, today and tomorrow during the ARMA 2003 conference for records and information management professionals at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston.

RasterMaster 12.0 is known throughout the document and records management industries for its flexible, performance-driven imaging capabilities and support for over 100 document and image formats, including Adobe Acrobat PDF, Group 4, JBIG, JPEG, MO:DCA (AFP, IOCA, PTOCA) and TIFF.

Developers can create applications with the PDF and PTOCA reading option in RasterMaster 12.0 that allow users to search for and highlight text within these documents, all from within the client application. Users can search for specific subject matter in documents stored in a corporate repository, including PDF and IBM ImagePlus PTOCA documents with overlays, and then retrieve only the pages that contain that information. These capabilities remove some of inefficiency and security concerns involved in downloading a large document in its entirety.

Other recent enhancements to RasterMaster 12.0 include a noticeable speed-up - up to 10 times faster - for decompressing large-tiled TIFF files. Snowbound also included transparent bitmap annotation, which, in conjunction with the company's RasterNote(R) product, allows developers to add annotation objects that are transparent bitmaps, so only the foreground color of the bitmap is drawn. This works well if someone wanted to add an image - an arrow, for example - over another image of a scanned document, fax, form, or other image, because only the arrow will be drawn, not the entire rectangular bitmap that encompasses the arrow.
