Powerboat pair 'lucky' RESCUE.

RESCUERS saved two people yesterday after their powerboat capsized.

The alert was raised after in Dublin Bay Dublin Bay (Irish: Cuan Bhaile Átha Cliath) is a delta shaped inlet of the Irish Sea off the east coast of Ireland. The bay is approximately 10 km in width at its north-south base and 7 km in length to its apex at the center of the city of Dublin, stretching from Howth Head  shortly before 11am yesterday close to the Baily Lighthouse at Howth Head.

The Coast Guard helicopter pulled the pair to safety.

The RNLI's Stephen Wynne said a marine VHF radio Marine VHF radio is installed on all large ships and most motorized small craft. It is used for a wide variety of purposes, including summoning rescue services and communicating with harbours and marinas, and operates in the VHF frequency range, between 156 to 174 MHz.  saved them.

He added: "Had they relied on a mobile they might not have had coverage with the steep cliffs at Howth or the phone could have been wet and useless - it was a lucky escape."
