PowerSeraya Surges Ahead With SPL(R) Customer Care & Billing in Preparation for Full Retail Contestability.

SINGAPORE -- SPL WorldGroup, a leading provider of mission-critical software solutions for the global utility market, today announced it has been selected by PowerSeraya Ltd in Singapore to provide SPL(R) Customer Care and Billing (SPL CC&B) as the company gears up for full market deregulation and contestability over the next three years.

As a major power generation company in Singapore, PowerSeraya supplies almost 30% of the nation's electricity requirements. Its core business centers around the generation of electricity for sale into the Singapore Electricity Market. In addition, through its subsidiary Seraya Energy Pte Ltd, the company currently supplies electricity to over 1,000 industrial and commercial accounts in Singapore. With the planned introduction of full deregulation in Singapore, the company's target market will expand to also include residential accounts.

As deregulation and privatization within the utility sector take hold across the region, PowerSeraya reviewed several options with the aim of providing more flexibility in the products and services they offer their customers. SPL CC&B was chosen based on its lower total cost of ownership, flexibility for operating in a competitive market, and track record of successful implementations around the world.

Initially PowerSeraya will deploy the new software to enhance customer relationships with advanced complex billing and meter data management.

SPL CC&B is scheduled to go into production at the end of the year and replaces an existing in-house system. SPL CC&B will provide PowerSeraya with a configurable billing system that will enable sophisticated interval data and billing options while improving debt management and reporting functionality.
