SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 9, 2001

PowerFile (TM), a leading manufacturer of near-line storage products, announced that AppleScript(TM) support is included in MediaFinder 1.3, their latest disc management software upgrade for the PowerFile C200 CD/DVD jukebox.

The PowerFile C200 is a 200-disc CD/DVD jukebox that provides up to a terabyte of near-line storage capacity using the most popular optical storage mediums available. The dual-drive, FireWire(TM) connected system is highly scalable, employs an intuitive user interface, and delivers 400 Mb/s of plug-and-play connectivity.

The new MediaFinder 1.3 host/client software catalogs discs by title and allows all clients access to any disc over the network. MediaFinder 1.3 is available for free download from the PowerFile web site (www.dvdchanger.com) to all registered PowerFile C200 users. Enhancements for MediaFinder 1.3 include:
- Support for AppleScript,

- Support for AppleShare IP

- Improved multi-user support

- Improved Canto Cumulus functionality

Cumulus cumulus: see cloud.  5, a digital asset management software package, can now automatically catalog all 200 discs in the PowerFile C200 through a single menu command. By placing a script (included with MediaFinder 1.3) into the Cumulus "Menu Commands" folder, the new command, "Catalog C200," shows up in the Cumulus "Catalog" menu.

"The new AppleScript support for PowerFile's MediaFinder 1.3, combined with Canto Cumulus, makes the near-line storage workflow process practically seamless," said Fitzroy Bonterre, director of Canto's U.S. operations. "Customers of PowerFile's product will benefit greatly from the work we have done together to develop superior interfaces for cataloging and storing digital assets."

By supporting AppleScript, software developers can create scripts to retrieve data from the PowerFile C200 jukebox automatically within their own software. The flexibility of AppleScript in MediaFinder 1.3 will allow programs like FileMaker Pro, DiskTracker, SoundJam MP SoundJam MP was a Mac OS audio player published by the now-defunct Casady & Greene.
