The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. . PowerDsine Midspans, which are compliant with IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, New York, www.ieee.org) A membership organization that includes engineers, scientists and students in electronics and allied fields.  802.3af PoE standard, deliver power via Ethernet cabling to powered devices, such as Wireless LAN A local area network that transmits over the air typically in the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz unlicensed frequency band. It does not require line of sight between sender and receiver. Wireless base stations (access points) are wired to an Ethernet network and transmit a radio frequency over an area  (WLAN) Access Points (APs), Voice over IP (VoIP) phones and network-based security cameras.

PowerDsine will work closely with Ingram Micro to create awareness of the benefits of PoE Midspans among reseller partners, systems integrators and VARs in the United States. These efforts will focus on those active in the wireless LAN, IP telephony and IP surveillance markets, which are the market sectors where PoE technology offers a cost-effective alternative.

One major advantage of PoE technology is that it enables the electrical power necessary for the operation of each end-device to be carried by Ethernet cables rather than by separate electrical wires and power cords. The technology, therefore, reduces installation costs by eliminating the need to install electrical wires or power outlets for IP phones, network video cameras or wireless LAN access points. Used in conjunction with an external uninterrupted power supply system, a Midspan solution will provide operating power to-end devices during power failures. This is another benefit of PoE technology, particularly for IP phones and surveillance cameras.

"Ingram Micro strives to support our solution provider customers with a broad array of products and technologies," said Paul Bay, senior vice president of Vendor Management, Ingram Micro U.S. "PowerDsine Midspan Power over Ethernet products opens up a whole new realm of flexibility when our customers sit down to create networking, security or surveillance solutions for end-users. These products provide an excellent opportunity for incremental sales."

The PowerDsine Midspans that are covered by the PowerDsine-Ingram agreement include 1-, 6- 12-, 24- and 48-port models that enable existing Ethernet switches to become PoE-enabled without the need to invest in an entirely new switch. All PowerDsine products are compliant with the IEEE 802.3af standard, which was ratified in June 2003.

"We selected Ingram Micro because of the broad reach of its channel network and strong presence in the wireless LAN, IP telephony and security markets," said Igal Rotem, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of PowerDsine. About Power over Ethernet Technology

PoE is a technology for wired Ethernet, the most widely installed local area network technology in use today. PoE allows the electrical power necessary for the operation of each end-device, to be carried by data cables rather than by separate power cords. It minimizes the number of wires that must be used in order to install the network, resulting in lower cost, less downtime, easier maintenance and greater installation flexibility.
