Power Designs announces acquisitions.EDGEWOOD, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 16, 1996-- Power Designs Inc. (OTC OTC See: Over-the-counter. OTC See over-the-counter market (OTC). :POWD), announced today that it has purchased through a wholly-owned subsidiary the Technipower Inc. and Constant Power Inc., subsidiaries of Penril DataComm Networks Inc. (NASDAQ NASDAQ in full National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations U.S. market for over-the-counter securities. Established in 1971 by the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD), NASDAQ is an automated quotation system that reports on : PNRL). These acquisitions substantially increase the size of the company's revenue and earnings. The acquisition of Constant Power Inc. provides Power Designs with "leap-frog" technology for the Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) and Power Line Conditioner A Power Line Conditioner is used to compensate peaks and valleys in the power supply and reduce peaks in the power flow to what is needed by the machine. For instance, on a 120 volt service, if the voltage exceeds 130 volts, the output is switched to a transformer that reduces the (PLC) markets. These UPS/PLC products utilize a combination of microprocessor technology coupled with high frequency switch mode power supply circuitry. These products permit a singular UPS or PLC unit to adapt to the dissimilar input, output and frequencies variations found throughout the world. These products are specifically focused to meet the harsh power environments found in the Pacific Rim Pacific Rim, term used to describe the nations bordering the Pacific Ocean and the island countries situated in it.
