 Dynevor church on the east bank of the Red River in Selkirk, Man., in the diocese of Rupert's Land Rupert's Land, Canadian territory held (1670–1869) by the Hudson's Bay Company, named for Prince Rupert, first governor of the company. Under the charter granted (1670) to the company by Charles II, the region comprised the drainage basin of Hudson Bay. . Archeologist Virginia Perch said the find is significant because it pre-dates European settlement. The fabric-impressed vessels discovered are called Selkirk pottery and are associated with the formative period of Cree culture. Ms. Petch said this suggests early Algonkian habitation HABITATION, civil law. It was the right of a person to live in the house of another without prejudice to the property.
