Potlatch orders Toscotec headbox.

POTLATCH ORDERS TOSCOTEC HEADBOX. Toscotec, Capannori, Lucca, Italy will deliver a single-layer headbox to be installed on an existing double wire machine for Potlatch Corp.'s mill in Lewiston, Idaho, USA. According to Toscotec, the project will be carried out in two separate stages, and the machine will be down in the first phase for just five days.

* The company recently completed the successful start-up of a new calender and a TT Transfer tail feeding system at SCA's paper mill in Porcari, Lucca, Italy. Toscotec installed a single-nip heated calender on Paper Machine Number 2, then installed the tail feeding system. The machine is 5300 mm wide at the pope and produces mainly corrugating paper, or white top liner (with the calender), with a 140g standard basis weight. The machine is running at 800 to 850 meters/minute, but both calender and tail feeding have been designed to reach 1000 meters/minute.

* Toscotec is slated to rebuild Tento's Number 1 Paper Machine for its paper mill at Zilina, Slovakia. The rebuild includes the felt section and the current press section. A new crescent former will be installed, and a new 1280 mm press will be installed in the press section. The company will also modify auxiliary equipment, as well as the approach flow system, which will be adapted to a new, last generation Toscotec double layer headbox. Following the rebuild, the machine will be able to run at a 2000 meters/minute, up from 1600 meters/minute, producing 2870mm reels in a wide basis weight range. Capacity will reach 110 metric tons/day.
