Oregon's 2007 minimum wage increase is a result of the passage of Ballot Measure 25, approved by the state's voters on Nov. 5, 2002.

That measure requires the Commissioner of the Bureau of Labor and Industries to calculate an annual adjustment to the minimum wage each September for the following calendar year based on any changes in the U.S. Consumer Price Index.

A 3.8 percent increase in the Consumer Price Index translated to a 30 cent hike in the 2007 minimum wage for Oregon workers. The state's minimum wage increased from $7.25 an hour to $7.50 an hour on Jan. 1, 2006.
