Porter house more than 50% sold.

Located at the gateway to Chelsea, the West Village and the historic meatpacking district, The Porter House condominiums have sold more than 50% of the 22 lofts available in just a few weeks on the market, it was announced today by Jeffrey M. Brown, the developer of the project.

Brown tapped award winning architectural firm, SHoP/Sharpies Holden Pasquarelli to design the residential building. Located at the comer of 15th Street and 99th Avenue, it embodies a bold and innovative approach that achieves a striking balance between contemporary and traditional New York architecture.

"With this project, we have been able to create exceptional apartments for those interested in truly living in a work of art. Everything about this building is outstanding, including the restored yellow brick of the original structure, and a new cantilevered facade that will be faced with custom cut zinc panels. Light boxes will adorn all four facades adding a soft glow to the building," said Jeffrey M. Brown, chief executive officer of Jeffrey M. Brown Associates.

Honed carrera marble and tile master baths include wall-mounted, polished chrome and wenge wood vanities by Urbinati. These apartments are the first in New York to feature the custom fixtures of these noted Italian design firms.

Care has been taken to incorporate elements of the original building as well. For example, 100-year-old yellow pine timbers removed during the construction process were restored at an upstate New York mill, and will be reused in the lobby floor, and as custom windowsills in many of the residences.

The units range in size from 958 SF to more than 2,200 SF, with from one to three bedrooms, plus a four-bedroom, 3,200-SF penthouse. In addition to the penthouse, eight of the apartments will offer outdoor space, and all owners will enjoy access to a common roof terrace, a lobby-level bicycle and stroller room, an exercise room, and individual basement storage space.
