Port Vale captain charged.

The captain of Port Vale Football Club appeared in court yesterday accused of refusing to take part in police drink-driving tests.

Tommy Widdrington, (29) was charged with failing to provide a breath test at a roadside and failing to provide a sample specimen for a laboratory test analysis.

He was charged in connection with a road traffic accident which happened in the early hours of Wednesday in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent.

Widdrington, from Poundsgate Road, Trentham, Stoke-on-Trent, appeared before magistrates in Stoke-on-Trent.

District Judge Alan Fowler granted him unconditional bail and he was ordered to re-appear before the court on November 9.
