Porn TV channel banned.
From February 21 it will be illegal to advertise, promote or supply decoder cards for Extasi TV.
Ministers ruled its explicit scenes of violent sex - including bondage - too strong for UK viewers.
But it will not be illegal to watch it and anyone who already has a subscription or decoding card will not break the law.
Extasi, which costs pounds 180 a year to receive, boasts it broadcasts three hard-core porn films a day, 24 hours a day, with at least one gay or transsexual movie.
Regulator Ofcom complained of hard-core material beyond that on sale in licensed sex shops.
British Broadcasting Minister Andrew McIntosh said: "I have viewed material from the channel and feel that a proscription order would be in the public interest, in particular to ensure children are not exposed to potentially harmful material."
