During 2001, Canon's optical, film and digital expertise received critical acclaim from photography and video experts at a variety of publications that focus on the newest technology and the hottest gadgets. When contemplating purchasing decisions, professionals and consumers rely on these publications for technology updates, new feature explanations and product evaluations.

American Photo, PC World, Popular Science, Presentations, Professional Photographer and Videomaker are among the prominent publications that tested, reviewed and provided high marks for Canon cameras and camcorders during 2001.

In the February 2002 issue of Videomaker, which focuses on tools, tips and techniques for consumers and professionals, the new Canon Optura 100MC digital camcorder will be declared the best single-chip MiniDV camcorder introduced during 2001. The magazine also concluded that the new Canon XL1S is the best three-chip MiniDV camcorder introduced last year.
