Population: 36,600. , Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 8, 2003 The City of West Hollywood is hosting the Sixth Annual Art & Design Walk on Saturday, May 31, 2003 from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the Avenues of Art & Design, the West Coast's premier destination for interior design, fine art galleries, showrooms, specialty shops and restaurants. The free event, held on the streets of Melrose Avenue Melrose Avenue is a well-known Los Angeles street that starts from Santa Monica Boulevard at the border between Beverly Hills and West Hollywood and ends at Hoover Street in Silver Lake. More than 70 businesses in the area will donate gift packages valued between $13,000 and $18,000 that will be raffled off to ticket buyers, with proceeds benefiting educational programs of The Museum of Contemporary Art. The gift packages, worth an estimated $75,000 in total, will be displayed in participating stores. Books of 11 raffle tickets can be purchased for $50 before and during the event. For the third straight year, the Avenues of Art & Design is partnering with the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising for the premiere exhibition of "Chairing Styles," a display of 11 original chairs and 11 matching gowns designed respectively by FIDM's graduating interior design and fashion design students. A shuttle service will loop through the Avenues of Art & Design during the festivities, and the City of West Hollywood will waive residential permit parking from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. in permit parking zones one and two. The City will also waive parking meter enforcement on Beverly Boulevard, Melrose Avenue, Robertson Boulevard Robertson Boulevard is a street in Los Angeles. The northern part of the street in West Hollywood is a trendy tree-lined shopping district. Robertson is best known as a recent celebrity hangout. and any side streets in the Avenues of Art & Design from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. the day of the event.
