Pope tells Catholic lawyers not to do divorce cases. (Around The World).

Pope John Paul II Pope John Paul II (Latin: Ioannes Paulus PP. II, Italian: Giovanni Paolo II, Polish: Jan Paweł II) born Karol Józef Wojtyła   has called on Roman Catholic attorneys and judges not to be involved professionally with divorce cases.

In a Jan. 28 speech to a church tribunal at the Vatican, the pope said, "We cannot surrender to the divorce mentality. When a couple encounters difficulties in their marriage, priests and other members of the faith must be united to help them positively resolve the crisis."

Joaquin Navarro-Valls, the pope's spokesperson, described the comments as "an application of the general moral principle of not allowing us to cooperate with something that is evil."
