Ponds: Building, Maintaining and Enjoying, The First Complete Book of Pond Management.

Ponds: Building, Maintaining and Enjoying: The First Complete Book of Farm Pond Management, by Carolyn Garrick Stern; 95 pages, soft cover; available from Progressive Farmer, PO Box 830069, Birmingham, AL 35283-0069; $14.95 postpaid.

This is a welcome volume in this area. When I was designing my farm pond from scratch several years ago, I had most of the information in this book on hand--I just had to gather it from a number of sources.

While no subject is treated in depth, Ms. Stern has done an excellent job of gathering diverse information and then assembling it into a very readable, if small, book. If you are considering having a pond built, it would be a worthwhile investment.
