In English-speaking countries these are based on the practice of the British Parliament, chiefly in the House of Commons. . (Students will need an explanation of this.) She travels with a crew of two men who add to the hilarity. Once there, she meets Rory, a son of an aristocratic family, and once they move beyond some initial tension and secrets, they fall in love. The end of the book, which focuses on these two overcoming their cultural and personal obstacles, isn't much different from your typical love story. Despite this, I still highly recommend it.

Maggie and Rory are both role models for stepping outside comfort zones, and the rewards that may be reaped when we embrace the notion that family and love really do matter. (Drug/alcohol use, coarse language, and sexual situations.) Annette Wells, Komachin MS, Lacey lac·ey
