Politics - Qortbawi: Higher Judicial Council members will be complete soon.

NNA - 30/4/2012 - Justice Minister Shakib Qortbawi told Voice of Lebanon that the appointments of members of the Higher Judicial Council will be completed soon through the election of two judges in May 8.

"After the elections are over, a draft decree calling for the appointment of five members of the Judicial Council will be sent to the President of the Republic and Cabinet for signing.

He warned that the absence of a Judicial Council is very dangerous.

"The council is functioning through the presence of deputy president Saeed Mirza but this is not the best way to do things. Mirza will retire in July of this year and the issue of appointments must be solved before this date," the minister stressed.

Qortbawi hoped that the LL8.9 trillion extra budgetary spending items would be signed by the President of the Republic, noting that former presidents have signed such decree hundreds of times.
