During much of the Bush administration, doctors and scientists whose work is focused on gay and lesbian health have charged that the White House has censored their research, and now they've got the support of Nobel laureates. A report released on February 18 by the Union of Concerned Scientists, a group of 60 prominent and influential research professionals, contends that the Administration regularly distorts scientific findings and manipulates expert advice to advance its political agenda.

"Sadly, nothing in Otis report is a surprise," said Kenneth Haller, president of the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association. "What is chilling is how pervasive these trends are, affecting not only LGBT health but all areas of health research and other science policy."

The report's findings include the censoring of data that supports the efficacy of condoms and the killing of a project that showed sex education that doesn't insist on abstinence still works.
