Political party politics.


This is in response to the letters in the February 2007 Letters column concerning the article "Rise of the Black Republicans?" (November 2006). I am neither Democrat nor Republican (I'm Independent), but I wanted to share this. Many African Americans African American Multiculture A person having origins in any of the black racial groups of Africa. See Race.  are not aware of the history of the Republican and Democratic parties. They don't know Don't know (DK, DKed)

"Don't know the trade." A Street expression used whenever one party lacks knowledge of a trade or receives conflicting instructions from the other party.

 who passed the Emancipation Proclamation Emancipation Proclamation, in U.S. history, the executive order abolishing slavery in the Confederate States of America. Desire for Such a Proclamation
, nor do they know that most blacks were Republican during Reconstruction. Also not known is that the Democratic Party was founded as a "white man's party." Of course, through the years, ideologies and agendas have changed for both parties. Has BLACK ENTERPRISE ever thought about writing an article showing how the Democrats and Republicans have helped and harmed us economically?
