Political note re elections.

In the next federal election, please do not vote for the following:

* MP Joe Comartin, NDP, Windsor-Tecumseh, ON. After being rebuked by his bishop (Ron Fabbro of London) in 2005 for defending same-sex "marriage" (SSM) in Parliament, Martin demonstratively headed Windsor's Gay Pride Day of 2006 as Grand Marsha, as one way of letting bishop and voters know of his contempt for Catholic teaching.

* MP Sean Murphy, Lib., Charlottetown, P.E.I. When meeting Mary Ellen Douglas of Campaign Life Coalition in the summer, he told her that he had no intention of voting to reopen the SSM debate, and that if it were re-introduced, he would vote in favour of SSM. The next day, he, too, headed for the local Gay Pride March. Murphy claims to be a Catholic.

* Conservative Party Senator Michel Fortier of Montreal represented Prime Minister Harper at the "Gay Games" in Ottawa. He announced that he supports SSM. The Senator is in the Senate only temporarily and will have to run as MP in the next election.

* Bloc Quebecois MP Francine Lalonde (La Pointe-de-l'isle) has announced she intends to re-introduce her euthanasia bill in the fall session of Parliament.

* Two Catholic Nova Scotia MPs, Mark Eyking (Sydney-Victoria) and Michael Savage (Dartmouth), are supporting the openly homosexual activist Scott Brison for the leadership of the Liberal party. Both voted for SSM in 2005.

Note re provincial politics: Alberta MLA Ted Morton is running for the leadership of the Alberta Conservative Party. A political scientist by profession (University of Calgary), Morton is a strong pro-lifer. He deserves support.

Note re municipal elections." Do not vote for Alex Munter, candidate for Mayor of Ottawa. Munter, supposedly a Catholic, is a gay activist of long standing and a supporter of SSM.
