The 27-year-old Eugene woman, who fought the man off and escaped with minor injuries, was able to describe the man to a sketch artist. Police said the suspect grabbed the woman as she jogged past him Wednesday morning on the path near Cheshire Avenue and Lawrence Street north of downtown. He carried her off the path and into an area overgrown overgrown said of a part that has not been kept trimmed. overgrown hoof overgrown hooves put unusual stresses on bones and tendons and allow for distortion of the wall and sole. with sticker bushes, Sgt. Scott McKee said. Police praised the woman's determination to escape, despite the man's threats to kill her unless she complied. "Each person has to make their own decision about how to react," McKee said. "He was trying to carry her to a remote spot by physical force. He intends to do bad things to her. "She made the right decision," he said. "Had she not, she might have been seriously injured in·jure tr.v. in·jured, in·jur·ing, in·jures 1. To cause physical harm to; hurt. 2. Aware that she was entering a remote area, the woman soon reversed direction and ran back the way she had come. When she did, she saw that the man had started following her, McKee said. She ran past him a second time, and he grabbed her and forced her to the ground, the sergeant said. The man threatened her, but the jogger screamed and struggled against the man's grip, breaking away from her assailant and fleeing before he was able to sexually assault her, McKee said. A witness to the attack called police at 8:40 a.m. but couldn't provide the exact location. By the time officers arrived at the correct spot, the suspect had disappeared, McKee said. Police hope someone recognizes the sketch and description of the attacker and contacts detectives with useful information. The suspect may have fresh, fine scratches on his hands and arms from struggling in the sticker bushes, McKee said. No one else has reported a similar attack recently, McKee said. But, he added, "Our experience with these kinds of cases is that they are rarely isolated."
