Police in Lahore, Pakistan, used clubs to break up a protest outside the national Supreme Court.


Police in Lahore Lahore (ləhôr`), city (1998 pop. 5,063,499), capital of Punjab prov., E central Pakistan, on the Ravi River. It is the second largest city of Pakistan. , Pakistan Pakistan (păk`ĭstăn', päkĭstän`), officially Islamic Republic of Pakistan, republic (2005 est. pop. 162,420,000), 310,403 sq mi (803,944 sq km), S Asia. , used clubs to break up a protest outside the national Supreme Court. The crowds were protesting a ban on kite flying, which the court had earlier upheld. The court said it banned kites because several people have been killed by them.
