Police: Skateboard used to attack statue
A man is accused of using a skateboard to
repeatedly strike a statue of a police officer
and a child outside the Sioux Falls Law
Enforcement Center. Jacob Adam Korst, 25,
of Sioux Falls was arrested after fleeing from
authorities, police spokesman Loren McManus
said. Korst is facing charges of intentional
damage to property, resisting arrest, fleeing
from police and simple assault. A deputy had
walked out of the jail Thursday when he
heard Korst yelling profanities at him and
then repeatedly striking the statue, McManus
said. Korst left the area while the deputy
called for assistance. Police caught up with
Korst and Korst ran from them. Korst ran
back toward where the deputy was, held up
his skateboard in front of him and ran into
the deputy, McManus said. The deputy was
not hurt, and Korst did not appear to be
drunk or under the influence of drugs,
McManus said.
