The key component of this project is the ability for PTK Centertel to offer messaging services to its more than 4.5 million subscribers so that they can access voice, fax and e-mail messages from any device regardless of location and time of day. Unisys is currently completing Phase 1 of the project, which entails design, development and implementation of the Unisys enhanced voice messaging application. Unisys is also deploying voicemail on the entire network. In addition, the company's Communications Market Source Services consulting team is working closely with PTK Centertel to launch the new services. More specifically, Unisys Market Source is assisting Centertel by advising on its new messaging strategy, services offerings, specific actions to increase Average Revenue Per User (ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) A calculation often used to determine the overall value of an application. "With the knowledge of the market that Unisys demonstrates, as well as its depth of technology services, we were extremely confident that they would be able to build and integrate a world-class messaging system, while making sure that we can market our new services effectively," said Krzysztof Sieczkowski, director, New Services Development for the PTK Centertel Marketing Division. "We believe that this will result in more revenue for us and real results for our customers."

In upcoming phases of the project, Unisys will integrate unified messaging features such as Internet Voice Mail, a Web interface to voice messaging; Profile Manager, a Web interface for managing voice mailbox settings; E-mail Reader, which gives fixed and wireless users access to e-mail; and E-mail Notification with Attachment, which allows e-mail notification with voice mail file as attachment. Unisys also plans to implement speech recognition technology with a universal messaging retrieval capability in the final phase of the project, which is expected to be operational in the second half of 2003.
