The 106-million [pounds sterling] Wales Millennium Centre The Wales Millennium Centre (Welsh: Canolfan Mileniwm Cymru) is a centre for the performing arts located on the Cardiff Bay waterfront. Opened in November 2004, it has hosted performances of opera, ballet, dance, comedy and musicals.  in Cardiff, which opened at the end of last year, is home to seven resident companies, including the Welsh National Opera Welsh National Opera (WNO) is a touring opera company founded in Cardiff, Wales in 1943. The WNO now tours Wales, the United Kingdom and the rest of the world extensively. Annually, it performs over 120 main scale operas. .

The protruding dome of the front facade is dominated by huge letters. At night they shine out brightly; by day they serve as giant windows. The letters form into words, English and Welsh
As an adjective "English and Welsh" refers to England and Wales.


English and Welsh is the title of J. R. R. Tolkien's valedictory address to the University of Oxford of 1955, explaining the origin of the word "Welsh".
 symbolically overlapping. And the words, by the poet Gwyneth Lewis, make poetry. The English words read, 'In these stones horizons sing'. The Welsh words say Creu gwir fel gwydr o ffurnais awen--'Creating truth like glass from the furnace of inspiration'.
