) Monday announced VideoCon, a Windows 95 plug-and-play, fully integrated desktop video conferencing application.

VideoCon offers consumers a low cost, easy-to-install and use solution for sending 16-bit full color video communications and real time G.723-compliant full duplex and text over any TCP/IP-based network, including the Internet and corporate intranets, or for making H.323/H.324-compliant direct calls using a modem over regular telephone lines.

The VideoCon package is all inclusive. It includes VDOPhone software for sending and receiving live video, sound and text in real time, VideoCon CCD CCD

Also in the package are a Quick Start and Installation Manual, the VideoCon installation program, a user guide on CD-ROM CD-ROM: see compact disc.

, and a Video Studio Software Suite. The Video Studio Software Suite contains everything the user needs to create multimedia presentations to use in a video conference including a Video Capture and Edit program, an Image Editor and Viewer, a Morph Editor and a Photo Album.

In addition, JCI bundles Microsoft's NetMeeting real-time communications tool for Windows 95 and Windows NT that allows users to communicate with anyone else using a video conferencing program that supports the H.323 standard.

VideoCon is the only video conferencing package in its price class that offers enhanced DSP audio compression technology to ensure clear, real time audio. VideoCon supports variable bandwidths from less than 14,400 Kbps on up. Because it is scalable, VideoCon automatically adjusts video quality to available bandwidth. It also allows split screen applications so users can see what they are sending as well as what they are receiving. The system can also accommodate two-way text chat applications.

Hardware requirements are modest. A 75 MHz or higher Pentium-based computer running Microsoft Windows 95 with a minimum of 8MB memory (16MB recommended) is required. A PCI-compatible SVGA (Super VGA) A screen resolution of 800x600 pixels. Third-party vendors extended IBM's VGA display standard and were the first to use the term.
