of the treatment and management of the 40 most common sports injuries. It was written for athletes and exercise enthusiasts who have sustained an injury and need a source book to follow that will assist them in rehabilitating themselves and safely returning to their sport. There are four parts to this book. The first part is a simple introduction to the concept of exercise and sports injuries that covers the topics of listening to the body, prevention, and pain. Part 2 clarifies the organization of the text and how to most effectively use its contents. In-depth explanations of the 6-Point Condition Summary for proper diagnosis and the 10-Point Treatment Plan, which represents the 10 most frequent physician recommendations, are given. Part 3 lists 40 of the most common sports injuries. Each condition is defined using the 6-Point Condition Summary, which includes a definition, cause, subjective symptoms subjective symptom

Although this book is a good, general text for the exercise enthusiast, I am concerned that it may be used as a cure-all by athletes, in the place of their need to consult the proper health care provider. This is a generic book with good advice on a wide variety of sports injuries, but it cannot be custom fit to the individual patient. Its value is in educating the public so that they can ask the questions necessary to obtain optimum care or to help them find a high-quality professional. It is of limited use as a resource for the physical therapist or trainer.
