Rush won the Grammy over nominated albums by John Hammond, Robert Lockwood, Jr., Luther "Guitar Junior" Johnson and "A Tribute to Howlin' Wolf." Houston's competition included Della Reese, Beverly Crawford, Rance Allen and the Soul Winners Conference Choir and the Rev. Timothy Wright. Since 1956, Otis Rush has been an international figure in the blues world, a pioneer of Chicago's famed "West Side sound." Recorded in Memphis, Tennessee, with co-producer Willie Mitchell, "Any Place I'm Going" features Rush's muscular vocals and visceral left-handed solos on the title track, written with celebrated Grammy-winning songwriter Will Jennings, as well as songs by R&B legends Marvin Gaye ("Pride and Joy") and Sam Cooke ("Laughin' and Clownin'").

Cissy Houston, the mother of pop diva Whitney Houston, is a musical powerhouse in the tradition of gospel legend Mahalia Jackson. In the 1960s she formed the Sweet Inspirations, which provided background vocals on classic soul recordings by Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett and many others. Houston's House of Blues Music debut "Face To Face" won a Grammy for Best Traditional Soul Gospel Album in 1997.
