Platform Computing Platform Computing is a privately held software company that is primarily known for its job scheduling product, Load Sharing Facility (LSF). It was founded in 1992 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Its headquarter is in Markham, ON. , a specialist in grid computing grid computing, the concurrent application of the processing and data storage resources of many computers in a network to a single problem. It also can be used for load balancing as well as high availability by employing multiple computers—typically personal  software solutions, today announced the release of the latest version of its Platform Symphony service-oriented architecture See SOA.  (SOA (1) (Start Of Authority) The first record in a DNS zone file. The company said that Platform Symphony 5 helps financial services organisations eliminate data access bottlenecks while squeezing even more performance out of their existing infrastructure. The software reduces the latency caused by large data sets, by intelligently placing workloads on systems that are physically close to the required data, and prioritises the use of multi-core servers. The solution is aimed at financial institutions that rely on time-critical data manipulation and computations.

The added functionality comes in the form of two new add-ins for Symphony: Data Affinity, which is responsible for placing a workload in the most optimal and cost efficient way taking into account data locality, and Dynamic Services, which is designed to optimise utilisation by sending only one set of data, choosing the best mix of multi-core or 2-core blades for each application.

Pricing details were not disclosed.
