Plans underway for 27th Western Coatings Symposium & Show, to include FSCT Annual Meeting, Las Vegas, November 6-9.


The Western Coatings Societies and FSCT FSCT Federation of Societies for Coating Technology
FSCT Fire Support Control Terminal
 will sponsor the 27th Biennial biennial, plant requiring two years to complete its life cycle, as distinguished from an annual or a perennial. Serving as the industry's only forum this fall, the WCS Symposium & Show will bring together professionals representing all areas of the industry. The event will feature informative short courses, educational presentations, and a trade show designed to spotlight the wide variety of products and services available to the coatings and allied industries.

Highlights include:

FSCT Technology Short Courses

(Sunday, November 6)

Incorporating the highest level technical programming, the Technology Short Courses will feature four valuable courses:

* Aerospace Coatings

* Novel, High Performance, and Functional Pigments

* Global Regulatory Update

* Formulation formulation /for·mu·la·tion/ (for?mu-la´shun) the act or product of formulating.

Separate registration is required to attend these courses, and attendance may be limited.

WCS Symposium

(Monday-Wednesday, November 7-9)

The WCS Symposium offers three concurrent tracks of sessions designed to benefit formulators, managers, and manufacturing personnel. The program theme, "Spirit of Cooperation," acknowledges the interconnectivity of the coatings and related industries, and explores practical techniques and technologies related to these industries.

Introducing the Symposium on Monday will be the prestigious FSCT Mattiello Memorial Lecture, to be presented by Dr. Rose Ann Ryntz, Senior Manager and Staff Scientist for Visteon Corp., Dearborn, MI. The title of Dr. Ryntz's Mattiello Lecture is "Bring Back the Steel: The Growth of Plastics in Automotive Applications."

On Tuesday, the program will begin with the Technical Focus Lecture, by Joannie W. Chin, of the National Institute of Standards and Technology National Institute of Standards and Technology, governmental agency within the U.S. Dept. of Commerce with the mission of "working with industry to develop and apply technology, measurements, and standards" in the national interest. . She will address the audience on "Accelerated UV Weathering of Polymeric polymeric /poly·mer·ic/ (pol?i-mer´ik) exhibiting the characteristics of a polymer.

WCS Show

(Monday-Tuesday, November 7-8)

Leading suppliers to the industry will showcase their innovative raw materials, testing apparatus, production equipment, and services through tabletop exhibits. Opportunities to visit the exhibits will be offered on Monday from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, and as part of the evening reception from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. On Tuesday, attendees may visit exhibits at lunch from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm and at a reception in the evening from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

WCS Golf Outing

(Sunday, November 6)

The WCS will host a Golf Outing at the Palm Valley Golf Resort on Sunday morning Sunday Morning may refer to:
  • "Sunday Morning (radio program)", a Canadian radio program formerly aired on CBC Radio One
  • CBS News Sunday Morning, a television news program on CBS in the United States
  • Sunday Morning (TBS TV series)
. This par-72 course plays to 6580 yards, with a rating/slope of 72/127. Club rentals will be available at the Westin.

Tee-off time is 8:00 am, with buses leaving the Westin promptly at 7:00 am. Registration is limited, and must be made in advance. Reservations can be made on the WCS registration form, or by contacting FSCT.

Hotel Accommodations

The Westin Casuarina Hotel & Spa is a modern luxury hotel, located steps away from the Las Vegas "Strip" and three miles away from McCarran Airport. The WCS organizers have arranged for discounted rates on hotel accommodations. Information and reservation forms will be available in mid-June. Contact FSCT for details.
