Planetary epicyclic drives.
The Type SA drive is the latest generation of Rotomission technology. This compact differential consists of three elements which are mechanically connected by the sun and planet gears. Combining the motion of the three elements solves many electro-mechnical drive problems. It employs a compound epicyclic system of gearing to provide high-torque capacity and a wide range of reduction ratios in a compact space. The torque capacity is a direct function of the number of planetary gear assemblies used. Consequently, a maximum range of ratios and capacities are provided from a minimum number of basic sizes and components. Many sizes are available to meet output torque and casing speeds.
