a February 2003 study published by iSuppli/Stanford Resources Inc., the market for healthcare applications of flat-panel displays, greater than one-megapixel in size, is forecast to grow at a 14 percent compound annual growth rate through 2006. "Surgeons, technicians and hospital administrators, interviewed as part of our Medical Displays Market Opportunity Study, expressed a growing need for high resolution, flat-panel solutions designed specifically for medical environments. Display providers able to provide a wide variety of solutions will be well positioned to capture a large share of this rapidly expanding market," said Rhoda Alexander, director of monitor research at iSuppli/Stanford Resources.

The ADARA QX line is quality assured with Planar's CXTRA(TM) ADARA Edition software for DICOM calibration and enterprise management. CXTRA sets and allows for adjustment of the display's gamma correction An adjustment to the light intensity (brightness) of a scanner, monitor or printer in order to match the output more closely to the original image. A gamma correction imposes the complement of the "tone curve" in order to flatten the line and bring the gamma closer to the ideal 1.  table to meet the DICOM standard. CXTRA's SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) A widely used network monitoring and control protocol. Data are passed from SNMP agents, which are hardware and/or software processes reporting activity in each network device (hub, router, bridge, etc.  (Simple Network Management Protocol) enterprise management capability allows administrators and IT staff to easily monitor display performance and calibration for all DOME(R) and ADARA displays from a central location. CXTRA also provides the option for automatic notification to administrative or IT personnel when there is a problem with any of the display functions, anywhere on the network.

The ADARA QX family will be showcased publicly for the first time at the RSNA 2003 show in Chicago, Nov. 30 - Dec. 4, at Planar's booth #8308. The ADARA Q2 will be available in January 2004, and the ADARA Q3 will be available in February 2004.
