A sharp drop in gasoline prices, along with low unemployment and a generally decent economy, are likely to result in a pretty good year. Whatever the final numbers, though, the malls are certain to be jammed. So the Business Journal asks: Do you do your holiday shopping early or late? For business associates, I try to find one present that I really like--for example a book with some meaning. Then I buy about 20 copies of it in paperback ahead of time so I can give it to people. I will be searching for that book this weekend. Everybody else gets the book, other than my wife and daughter. My daughter has given me a list and I know what my wife wants. So I'll do that shopping close to Christmas. I like to avoid crowds and the general madness. Thanksgiving Day shopping is too crazy and busy. I like to shop at various places. Malls are good because they have a lot of stores in one place. I like to buy gifts for everyone I know like family and friends and that's why it can get to be too much financially. |
