Plan for Ditto Product Line Unveiled by Tecmar; This Follows Acquisition of Ditto from Iomega.LONGMONT, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 21, 1999-- Tecmar Technologies Inc. (www.tecmar.com), a leading provider of tape storage products for the network storage market, Wednesday announced plans for the Ditto(R) product line it recently acquired from Iomega. The new Tecmar-manufactured 10GB Ditto Max(tm) Professional, aimed at the SoHo market, will be offered at an MSRP MSRP Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price MSRP Message Session Relay Protocol MSRP Multi-Species Recovery Plan (US Fish & Wildlife Service) MSRP Member of the Society for Radiological Protection (UK) of $199 -- the same price as the Iomega-manufactured 7GB Ditto Max. Tecmar will also expand the Ditto family by adding two new 20GB products targeted at the workstation and network server markets. The Ditto Max Pro Workstation Series will start at $299, and the Ditto Max Pro Network Series will start at $399 MSRP. Based on Tecmar's award-winning Travan NSync technology, both of these products will offer the increased capacities and advanced interfaces required by workstation and server users. Tecmar will also address the capacity and Y2K See Y2K problem and Y2K compliant. Y2K - Year 2000 needs of current Ditto users. The installed base of Ditto products is about three million. In addition, the channel inventory currently includes older 2GB and 7GB Ditto products. All of these drives will require a software upgrade to address Y2K issues. They will also need capacity upgrades before they can accommodate additional storage needs. Tecmar will offer users of these products three upgrade options. First, it will provide a Y2K software upgrade kit for $19.99 MSRP. Second, it will provide a 10GB upgrade kit for the 7GB product consisting of upgrade software, the Y2K upgrade kit and required media for $49.99 MSRP. Third, it will provide a trade-in program to 2GB and 7GB users for a new 20GB Ditto Max Pro Workstation drive, complete with software and media, for $249.99 MSRP. Under terms of the acquisition, Iomega will continue to sell off its inventory of Ditto drives. Tecmar will begin shipping the Ditto Max(tm) Professional to its channels on May 15, providing a seamless transition and a continuous product inventory to channel customers. The Y2K upgrade kit will also ship at this time. In late June, Tecmar will begin shipping the first of its 20GB Ditto Max Pro products. It will also ship the 10GB upgrade kit and will initiate the trade-in program for existing Ditto users.
