), recently unveiled its DL355 digital copier/printer. The DL355 offers small and mid-size workgroups and offices a unique combination of the superior reliability of Pitney Bowes' SmartImage Plus series copiers with the increased flexibility offered by digital technology. Incorporating impressive speed, capacity and image quality with document manipulation, networking and multifunction capabilities, the DL355 represents the next generation of digital copying for small and mid-size users.

Users will notice an immediate increase in their productivity when utilizing the DL355. The "scan once, print many" capability, which is available even while duplexing, is central to the system's digital performance, and enables users to work on multiple jobs or walk away with their originals as the DL355 completes their task. Couple this with a host of document manipulation capabilities, including automatic booklet, mirror image and inverse image creation, along with 2up or 4up copying, cover sheet and page insertion options, and the DL355 enables the user to produce high quality, deliverable documents with minimal hands on effort.

The DL355's digital capabilities offer more than increased efficiency when used as a standalone machine, however. An optional print controller enables the DL355 to connect to most networks, and allows the DL355 to become a powerful document output device as a workgroup printer and desktop publishing desktop publishing, system for producing printed materials that consists of a personal computer or computer workstation, a high-resolution printer (usually a laser printer), and a computer program that allows the user to select from a variety of type fonts and sizes,  tool. Graphics, halftone In printing, the simulation of a continuous-tone image (shaded drawing, photograph) with dots. All printing processes, except for Cycolor, print dots. In photographically generated halftones, a camera shoots the image through a halftone screen, creating smaller dots for lighter areas and  reproduction and other detail intensive jobs are completed quickly and professionally by the system's 1200 dpi resolution and laser quality output.

The digital features of the DL355 are nothing without the impressive copying features that have historically been the hallmark of Pitney Bowes copiers. A combination of high quality imaging capabilities, speed, paper capacity and finishing options minimizes the time associated with jobs, maximizes user productivity and subsequently lowers overall cost.

paper capacity, which allows even the largest jobs to proceed uninterrupted, magnifies the effectiveness of this speed. The machine has up to seven paper sources to pull from, and a possible total capacity of 5800 sheets. An optimal 3000 sheet drawer serves as the main paper source, and can be augmented by additional 550 sheet drawers.

The combination of superior imaging quality, speed and capacity is complemented by a modular design In the context of systems engineering, modular design — or "modularity in design" — is an approach aiming to subdivide a system into smaller parts (modules) that can be independently created and then used in different systems to drive multiple functionalities.  system that enables the user to custom tailor the copier to meet specific needs and budgetary requirements. The modular design systems allows a host of optional finishing features, including a 3 bin finisher with multi-position stapling, a 2 bin finisher with stapling, hole punch

An optional file management system offers users an unparalleled way to eliminate paper-filing systems by providing the ability to store copy jobs electronically. The DL355 file management system labels each document or copy job with a specific code, files and stores the jobs accordingly, and offers the user a browser to locate, recall and work with stored files, while at the same time protecting sensitive materials from unauthorized usage.
