PistolStar Enables Lotus Notes Single Sign on and Password Recovery for Users Working Offline, Roaming and in Distributed Computing Environments.

Password Power Lotus Notes Synchronized Distributed Databases
Notes provides strong replication capability, which synchronizes databases distributed in multiple locations and to mobile users. The Notes Name & Address Book provides a central directory for all resources. Many applications have been built with Notes using its macro language and LotusScript, a Visual Basic-like programming language.
ID Plug-In Delivers Anytime Anywhere Access to Lotus Applications Via Microsoft Active Directory An advanced, hierarchical directory service that comes with Windows 2000 servers. It is LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) A protocol used to access a directory listing. LDAP support is being implemented in Web browsers and e-mail programs, which can query an LDAP-compliant directory. It is expected that LDAP will provide a common method for searching e-mail addresses on the Internet, eventually leading to a global white pages. LDAP is a sibling protocol to HTTP and FTP and uses the ldap:// prefix in its URL. compliant and built on the Internet's Domain Naming System (DNS). Workgroups are given domain names, just like Web sites, and any LDAP-compliant client (Windows, Mac, Unix, etc.) can gain access to it. Active Directory can function in a heterogeneous, enterprise network and encompass other directories including NDS and NIS+. Cisco is supporting it in its IOS router operating system. and Supports Users on Citrix and Microsoft Terminal Servers (1) A computer or controller used to connect multiple terminals to a network or host computer.

) access, Notes Roaming support, and Notes SSO in Citrix and Microsoft Terminal Server environments. Lotus Notes end-users working offline, at a different machine, or connected to a Citrix or Microsoft Terminal Server can now launch Notes and achieve single sign-on and password recovery with their Microsoft Active Directory password. The Notes ID Plug-in also delivers broad support for Lotus Notes 7 and accommodates multinational companies with its availability in multiple languages.

Lotus Notes single sign-on is enabled via authentication redirection Diverting data from their normal destination to another; for example, to a disk file instead of the printer, or to a server's disk instead of the local disk. See virtual directory, symbolic link, shortcut, redirector and DOS redirection. to Microsoft Active Directory or another LDAP directory, such as Sun ONE LDAP, IBM Tivoli Directory Server A network server that provides a directory service or naming service. See directory service, naming service and ULS server., OpenLDAP, and Novell eDirectory Formerly Novell Directory Services (NDS), eDirectory is Novell's flagship directory service which was included in NetWare (as NDS) beginning with Version 4. It is also available for Windows NT/2000, Solaris and Linux. eDirectory is based on the X.500 directory standard and maintains a hierarchical database of information about the network resources within a global enterprise, including networks, users, subgroups, servers, volumes and printers.. By allowing Notes client access to Lotus applications using Active Directory credentials, the Notes ID Plug-in eliminates Notes ID file password management and password recovery.

"We develop and enhance our password management solutions with both the end-user and IT adminstrator in mind, realizing that simplifying the end-users' experience by offering flexible access will ultimately reduce adminstrators' workloads," states Gregg Browinski, chief technology officer, PistolStar Inc. "Now that Active Directory and other LDAP directories can be utilized for Notes single sign-on and password management, end-users and administrators no longer need to concern themselves with the Notes ID file password and the task of recovering it when lost or forgotten. As a bonus, both parties experience tremendous time savings and increased productivity."

System Requirements

Included in Password Power 8, the Notes ID Plug-In is a client-side solution that supports Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP. Installation of the Notes ID Plug-In is seamless and does not require changes to Citrix or Microsoft Terminal Server.
