Pinups with pride.Network television offers the affluent and overly coiffed boys of Will & Grace and Queer Eye Queer Eye (originally Queer Eye for the Straight Guy)[1] is an hour-long American Emmy award-winning television gay series that premiered on the Bravo cable television network on July 15, 2003, and promptly became both a surprise hit and one of the most to represent just how "normal" (read: nonthreatening) we can be. At the same time, the far right offers brochures and Web sites filled with the ultrafit men and outrageous drag queens seen at pride parades to represent our hedonism hedonism (hē`dənĭz'əm) [Gr.,=pleasure], the doctrine that holds that pleasure is the highest good. Ancient hedonism expressed itself in two ways: the cruder form was that proposed by Aristippus and the early Cyrenaics, who believed and perversity per·ver·si·ty n. pl. per·ver·si·ties 1. The quality or state of being perverse. 2. An instance of being perverse. Noun 1. . How ironic that the supposedly liberal media and evangelical conservatives, two groups usually at opposite ends of a very large spectrum, share the habit of misrepresenting GLBT GLBT Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered Americans. Different motives, yes, but the same result. They both get it wrong. This spring, The Advocate petitioned many of our contributing photographers to submit their personal work on openly queer subjects for this special issue.
